Seventy-three North Royalton High School students joined the school's National Honor Society chapter on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Dan Calabrese Center for the Performing Arts.
The new members include 21 students from the Class of 2027 and 52 from the Class of 2028, according to the North Royalton City Schools district. They join 37 returning members from the Class of 2027.
The National Honor Society recognizes students who exemplify four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service and character. Four chapter officers each addressed one pillar during the ceremony's traditional candle-lighting segment. Morgan Holet, the chapter's parliamentarian, spoke about leadership. Treasurer Alaina Kovach addressed service. Secretary Prisha Pramod discussed scholarship. Historian Stefanie Tsybulya reflected on character.
NHS President Izabella Cengic welcomed attendees, led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced returning members. Vice President Camryn Sibits introduced guest speaker Stackie Leatherman, a North Royalton High School English teacher and department chair, who addressed students and families.
Principal Kristin Hubbell led the new inductees in the NHS pledge. Through the pledge, students committed to maintaining high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
