Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School is asking for help finishing a two-year project that honors local veterans, first responders and the nation's founding documents.

The school announced the "17-76 Fundraiser" on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to fund the final piece of its "Walls of Freedom and Sacrifice" installation, according to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District. The fundraiser's name nods to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The area will honor 12 of the nation's seminal documents. It will also honor BBHMS community members and alumni in the armed services, as well as family members who are first responders, the district said. The space will double as a reflective area and home to an interactive touchscreen.

The touchscreen is the project's final phase. It will feature student-created videos about the 12 founding documents, photos of active service members and alumni, and images of first responders from the school's education community, according to the district.

The fundraiser offers three donation levels: $17, $76, or a "Liberty Bell" tier for any other amount. Processing fees apply. Donations can be made by cash or check to BBHMS, or online through the school's Givebacks campaign page.

Questions can be directed to Mike McNamara at [email protected], according to the district.
