A season turnaround

The Mustangs started 2026 at 1-2 before reeling off wins down the stretch, according to cleveland.com's Oct. 23 coverage of Strongsville's regular-season finale. That coverage described how the team won a share of the Greater Cleveland Conference (GCC) championship with a 52-14 rout of Brunswick. It was the program's first conference title since 2008.

Head coach Jason Trusnik's squad leaned on senior quarterback Jack Kasner, senior running back Kendrick Boddie and sophomore Austin Tatulinski during the regular season. In the Brunswick game, Kasner completed 9 of 16 passes for 178 yards and rushed for 78, according to cleveland.com's Oct. 23 report. Boddie ran for 150 yards on 12 carries, and Tatulinski added 77 rushing yards on four carries.

In that Oct. 23 coverage, Kasner said of the conference title: "It's surreal to be a part of that. I'm really proud of my teammates and how we've played the last four games."

Trusnik, in the same coverage, pointed to the program's trajectory: "We talk about raising the standard. We talk about there being a standard, and that's now set."
